Title: Energy Day in Slovakia CEERES Seminar and Excursion to the Windpark
1Energy Day in SlovakiaCEERES Seminar and
Excursion to the Wind-park
- The structure of primary energy sources
consumption in Slovakia is relatively
inconvenient and it isnt changing significantly.
Native fossil fuel sources share on total fuels
consumption is only 10 and other 90 have to be
imported. High dependency of fuels consumption in
Slovakia on imports requires rationalisation of
energy consumption and management, securing of
long-term safe foreign supply and RES utilization
development.
Slovakia Population 5,399,000

Energy supply
Energy consumption (472 148 TJ)
RES make up approx. 3 of total primary energy
sources consumption. Large HPP excluded. Natio
nal target of 31 RES electricity decreased to
19 in 2010 under BAU, resp. 24 under SI
scenario.

4Energy Day in SlovakiaCEERES Seminar and
Excursion to the Wind-park
- National Seminar about the integration of
renewable electricity (RES-E) and co-generation
into energy supplies in Slovakia is organised in
frame of EU 6th Framework Programe project
CEERES (www.ceeres.org) - Focus
- Renewable energy sources (RES) in EU and
Slovakia
- Status of European directives on RES and CHP
promotion in Slovakia (Directive 2001/77/EC
and 2004/8/EC) implementation
- Facing barriers of RES-E integration into energy
supply
- Regulation framework for RES-E production fixed
feed-in tariffs, guarantee of origin of
electricity produced from renewable, connection
conditions - RES-E production in practise
- RES research, building of consortia for future EU
framework programmes.
- PRACTICAL STEPS and DIALQUE Reinforsement, INFO
DISSEMINATION

6Energy Day in SlovakiaCEERES Seminar and
Excursion to the Wind-park
- The most important Slovak energy sector
stakeholders like relevant ministries, regulatory
office for the network industries, distribution
company and RES-E power producers presented their
approach regarding renewable electricity
production, distribution and consumption in
Slovakia. - Main mission of the CEERES National Seminar and
Excursion to the first wind power plant connected
to the Slovak power-grid called Cerová is the
increase of public awareness and promotion of
sustainable energy production and use among
individuals and organisations, private companies
and public authorities, professional and energy
agencies, industry associations and NGOs in
Slovakia.
7Energy Day in SlovakiaCEERES Seminar and
Excursion to the Wind-park
- Results
- 130 participants from all interest groups
present
- strong discussion and open exchange of opinions
- interest of investors (banks) shown
- weak points of RES strategy communicated
- technology issues (myths) openly discussed
- follow up actions agreed (integration and
dissemination af available data)
- potential for future projects discussed
- participants asked to provide their inputs for
strategy papers under preparation
- - Dialoque started
- Media attention gained
- Follow-up discussions expected
- Changes in attitude? Legislation?
