, Singapore What is it? The advanced urolog
y course is organized by the Singapore Urological
Association in conjunction with the Asian School
of Urology under the auspices of Urological
Association of Asia. It is a three day intensive
course covering a spectrum of urological
diseases. Who should attend? It is primarily
aimed at the advanced urological trainee who may
be preparing for certification examinations.
Junior trainees will also find the instruction
useful for their further study. Practising
urologists may find the program useful as a quick
refresher. Speakers and moderators Urological
management varies from one centre to the next.
Speakers and moderators will be invited from
local and overseas institutions to provide a more
balanced view reflecting differences in opinion
between experts. Format of the course The cour
se will be a combination of didactic lectures
combined with difficult case discussions and
debates. (see course overview). Active
participation in the discussions will be
encouraged. Mock Examinations Oft a request of
trainees, there will be a test for the
participant to assess his own knowledge. There
will be an OSCE-style test as well as a viva voce
for trainees. Course preparations Having som
e prior knowledge before coming for the course
will greatly enhance your benefit, particularly
during the case discussions. Participants are
encouraged to read up in preparation for the
course. Such readings will come in handy for
point-counterpoint debates and viva voce.
Social interaction and networking A large propo
rtion of the participants will be future
urologists. A social function will be arranged to
allow them to interact and network with their
senior colleagues as well as their overseas
counterparts in order to foster a wider
international fellowship.
