07/25/2007 Quigley signs pro contract Duluth
native Erika Quigley has signed a contract to
play for a professional womens basketball team
based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Quigley will play
in Greeces top league, said her mother, Lauren.
Teams are allowed to have two foreign-born
players, including WNBA players, on their
rosters. The season is from September through
May. Quigley, a 6-foot-2 forward, was named
player of the year by the Womens Division II
Bulletin, the Womens Basketball Coaches
Association and Daktronics after leading the
nation in scoring with 24.5 points per game in
2006-07 and ranking in the top 10 with 11.6
rebounds per game as a senior at St. Cloud State.
Shes the schools career scoring
leader. Quigley, who is living in St. Paul and
working out with a professional trainer, will
follow the lead of older brother, Josh, who
played two professional seasons in Europe after
being named Minnesota Duluths male athlete of
the year in 2000.
