Summary of Stave 1
  • In stave 1, we meet Scrooge and find out how his
personality is. Scrooge is a miser who only cares
for himself. His dead business partner, Jacob
Marley, came to warn him that he would be visited
by three spirits who would give him a chance to
change his life around. If he refuses, he will
lead a miserable life after death.

6
Summary of Stave 2
  • In stave 2, we the first of the three spirits
arrive. He is the ghost of Christmas past. He
shows Scrooges past Christmases and he shows how
Scrooge, within time, grows to be a miser.
Scrooge sees his former self and his ex-fiancee
who would be his fiancee now if money hadnt
taken over his life. He also saw Fanny, his dear
sister who seemed to be the only one who loved
    him.

7
Summary of Stave 3
  • The second spirit, the ghost of Christmas
Present, takes Scrooge on a trip to see the
present Christmases and how they are celebrated
by different families. He first visited Bob
Cratchit, his employee. Although they did not
see him, Scrooge was affected by Tiny Tim, Bobs
disease stricken son. He also saw his nephew,
Fred, and how his Christmas Dinner went on
    without him.

8
Summary of Stave 4
  • In stave 4, the last of the three spirits had
come, as predicted. He took Scrooge to see
Scrooges future, which was not a happy one. In
his future, Scrooge sees people around town
talking about a dead man. He later finds out
that the dead man was him. He also sees Bobs
family grieving over the death of Tiny Tim. In
seeing this, Scrooge makes a promise to change
    his life around.

9
Summary of Stave 5
  • This last stave is a joyful one for we learn that
Scrooge has really kept his promise and has
really changed his life around. He is very
generous because he gives money to charity, when
the day before he had refused to, and he bought
the biggest turkey and sent it anonymously to the
Cratchit home. He also joined in on the
Christmas dinner his nephew had invited him to.
Scrooge was also overjoyed to know that Tiny Tim
didnt die and so was I.
