Title: Ship for World Youth XIII
1Reiko Tagami LIBR 500
2The Ship for World Youth is a programme of the
Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. Each
year, approximately 150 young people from various
countries join with a similar number of Japanese
youth to participate in cultural exchange
activities, discussion groups, lectures, and
national presentations. Except for the first
several days in Japan, the program takes place at
sea on the cruise ship the Nippon Maru.
In 2000, I was one of nine Canadians to join this
fantastic voyage!

10Your mission, should you choose to accept it
All you ever wanted to know about Canada, but
never got the chance to ask. Time limit 30 minu
tes Format Multimedia extravaganza
How do you describe all that is Canada, in the
space of 30 minutes, to 250 people who have never
been there? We were stumped.
11We opted for a historical overview - the costumes
were from the National Theatre School. A
Canadian landscapes slideshow was next,
followed by a brief enactment of Immigrating To
Canada. (We are all immigrants, after all)
