Training
  • Diverse Identities is scoping existing training
    models on lgb equality (training on transgender
    will be picked up in the gender equality work
    programme)
  • The models will be evaluated and a set of core
    standards developed
  • Examples of good practice will be identified

Monitoring
  • A review on monitoring of sexual orientation has
    been carried out by Stonewall
  • The report covers monitoring of staff and of
    service users it reviews current practice across
    sectors, giving examples of good practice and
    makes recommendations
  • The report will remain a Stonewall report but be
    available on the DH website

Positive Images
  • Positive images of lgbt people have been produced
    and will be available on the NHS picture library
    the resource used by NHS communications staff
  • The spec for submitting photos will be publicised
    so that local community groups can submit
    additional pictures

Bereavement
  • A pack has been developed giving guidance to
    health and social care staff on bereavement and
    lgbt equality
  • The pack raises awareness about the need for
    sensitivity and about particular issues that may
    affect lgbt people when bereaved

  • Issues identified that have not received enough
    attention
  • Follow up work from the work commissioned last
    year
  • Additional areas that have come more to the fore
