There are ten million Tajiks. Many of them live
in Uzbekistan. Less than one percent know Jesus
Christ as personal Savior. Pray for protection
and boldness for new believers to share the
gospel with others.

This young girl at a mosque in Bukhara,
Uzbekistan, stands as close to the area where men
go to pray as she is allowed. Many Tajiks seek to
find God but dont know that through Jesus Christ
they can have a personal relationship with Him.
Pray that those who seek the true God will find
Him.

- For more than 70 years, Soviet leaders imposed
atheism and Russian culture on the Central Asian
republics. With independence the Uzbeks are
returning to their cultural roots, including
Islam. - Pray that they may understand Christs love which
transcends culture and brings true freedom.

city his capital. The Tajiks have historical
roots stretching back to the fourth century, but
few have any knowledge of Jesus.

Even though the Soviets tried to stamp out all
religions, today Tajiks and Uzbeks equate
Christianity with Russian Orthodoxy and, in turn,
with the Russian government whose leaders tried
to impose their ways on the Central Asian people.
Pray that the people of Uzbekistan will discard
any stereotypes they may have of Christians and
receive the message of Gods grace.

With the fall of the Soviet stronghold in the
region, tourists are beginning to make Uzbekistan
a stop on their historical vacations. Pray that
Christian tourists will remember that they are
never on vacation when it comes to witnessing
about their new life in Christ.

For generations young Tajiks in the Soviet
republics were denied religious instruction.
Todays children are again free to learn about
religion, but for Tajiks that religion is Islam.
Pray that the children of Uzbekistan will hear
and respond to the good news about Jesus

A spiritual awakening in the country has brought
many to Islam, such as these Tajik men inside
Kalyan Mosque in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Ask the
Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to the people of
Uzbekistan through dreams, visions and other
miracles.
