In the last Lok Sabha elections, the city of
Mumbai had the lowest voting turnout in
Maharashtra with just around 43 of the Mumbai
electorate voting. The island city had the worst
record where Colaba polled only around 32 of
vote, while the suburban region did fairly better
to compare the score individually. It is the
apathy of individuals who do not vote that has
brought us to this state of a farce democracy
where the representatives are by default not
elected by the majority. 2014 election is more
interesting and special, since we have a vast
number of first time voters.
