• I chose the python because it looked interesting,
  and one of my favorite animals is the snake.
• Pythons are one of the longest animals on earth.
• Pythons are in the same family as boas.

Description

• Some pythons grow to be more than 20 feet long!
• The African rock python is really beautiful.
• They have a V mark on their head with a black
  outline.
• Their scaly skin is tan with brown spots.
• The African rock python has no fangs.
• The rock python gets bigger every year!

Habitat

• Pythons live in the rain forest and grasslands of
  Asia, Africa, and Australia.
• The African rock python lives in grassland but
  sometimes they also enter water, climb trees, or
  go to forests.
• In Africa, they live in the south part.

Diet

• The python can find its prey in total darkness by
  sticking out its tongue to smell it.
• The rock python eats monkeys, pigs, deer, small
  apes, birds, and little mammals.
• The python squeezes them to death, swallowing the
  prey whole, head first!
• The rock python can survive for two years between
  meals.
• Did you know that big pythons can eat humans?

Babies

• The python usually lays eggs 4 to 16 weeks after
  mating.
• The female python can lay 75 eggs!
• Once the baby snake hatches, the baby snake can
  look after itself.
