2
Easter was originally a Pagan celebration of the
goddess of fertility called Astarte or Ishtar,
the queen of heaven.
3
Many of the current day symbols that represent
Easter are from the past Babylonian false goddess
worship including the hot cross buns and dyed
colored eggs.
4
The early Church did not commemorate the
resurrection of Christ by naming it Easter nor
does the New Testament ever command the
celebration.
5
The true origins of this celebration are actually
part of God's prophetic message to the Jews.
6
Our Lord was crucified during the feast of
Passover, He was buried during the feast of
Unleavened Bread and He was raised on the feast
of First Fruits.
7
1 Cor 57, Clean out the old leaven so that you
may be a new lump, just as you are in fact
unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been
sacrificed.
8
Jesus Christ was raised on the Feast of First
Fruits as the first of many sons to be
resurrected unto God. 1 Cor 1520-22 w/ Heb 210
9
The Passover illustrated Christs death for the
forgiveness of our sins, thereby freeing us from
the slave market of sin, just as Israel was freed
from Egyptian slavery.
10
Gal 51, It was for freedom that Christ set us
free therefore keep standing firm and do not be
subject again to a yoke of slavery.
11
Likewise, the crossing of the Red Sea speaks to
the resurrection as the First Fruits unto God, as
Israel was raised as a new people unto God coming
out of the Sea.
12
The blood has delivered us from the penalty of
sin and the resurrection from the power of sin.
1 Cor 1554-57
13
It is by faith that the Christian receives
victory. Rom 328 51-2 Eph 28-9 Heb
1117-19
14
Rom 328,For we maintain that a man is
justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
15
Eph 28-9, For by grace you have been saved
through faith and that not of yourselves, it is
the gift of God not as a result of works, so
that no one may boast.
16
Rom 51-2, Therefore, having been justified by
faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained
our introduction by faith into this grace in
which we stand and we exult in hope of the glory
of God, (in confident expectation of the
resurrected life).
17
In summaryThe first experience is substitution,
for the lamb died in the place of the firstborn,
Rom 4-5.
18
The second experience is identification, for we
are identified with Christ in His death, burial
and resurrection, Rom 6-8.
19
Our Lords Cross is the gateway into His life.
His resurrection means that He has the power to
convey His life to you.
20
When you were born again, you received the very
life of the risen Lord from Jesus Himself.
21
The fulfilling of His destiny gives Him the right
to make us sons and daughters of God.
22
His resurrection means that we too are raised to
His risen life right now, not to our old life.
23
One day we will have a body like His, but we can
know here and now the power and effectiveness of
His resurrection and can walk in newness of
life. Rom 64
24
Pauls determined purpose, as should ours, was
to, know Him and the power of His resurrection.
Phil 310
