  • Hours
  • 600 AM 1000 PM
  • Monday through Friday

2
Scenario
  • Our companies objective was to maximize our
profit with 12 workers. We had to calculate the
amount of boats and jetskis we could make
without over working our 12 workers. While we
still considered producing a variety of products
for our customers. We decided to have each worker
work 8 hours a day for a 5 day work week.

3
Inequalities
  • It takes 40 hours to make a boat.
  • It takes 48 hours to make a jetski.
  • We have a maximum of 480 worker hours a week.
  • We derived that our first inequality would be 40x
    48y
  • To graph the equation we solved for Y, to get, y

Profit Function
  • Using this equation, 400x 250 y P, we
estimated that the maximum profit we could
produce would be 4,800 making 12 boats and 0
    jetskis.
  • We concluded that this would not be efficient,
because we would have less of a variety to sell
    to our customers.
  • By substituting more numbers, we concluded that
our best option would more than likely be, 6
    boats and 5 jetskis.

6
Profit Function
  • Using the amount of workers we have concluded
that producing 6 boats and 5 jetskis would not
    work.
  • We then tried the next closest pair, 5 boats and
    5 jetskis.
  • With our 12 workers divided up through 2 shops on
8 hour shifts, it was possible to produce 5 boats
    and 5 jetskis.

Balancing our Product
8
Profit Function
  • Thus we concluded, using our profit function,
that our total profit would be 3,250.

9
Conclusion
  • Our company succeeded in maximizing our profit
while keeping our workers happy and providing our
customers with an equal variety of quality
    watercrafts.
