    continental United States
  • Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and parts of Wyoming
    and Western Montana
  • Region was explored by Lewis and Clark in the
    early 1800s
  • U.S.A claimed the land and the region was known
    as Oregon Country
  • The area subdivided into territories were later
    admitted as states

  • Native Americans (Bella Bella, Chinnok, Makah,
    Nootka, Takelma, and many others)
  • Lived in large wooden houses
  • Warfare among tribes due to overpopulation of the
    region
  • Best fishermen and boat builders
