AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency
Syndrome. It is a disease caused by a virus
called HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). The
illness alters the immune system, making people
much more vulnerable to infections and diseases.
This susceptibility worsens as the disease
progresses.

Symptoms of AIDS

• Many people with HIV have no symptoms for several
  years. Others may develop symptoms similar
  to flu, usually two to six weeks after catching
  the virus.Symptoms of early HIV infection may

• Joint pain and muscle ache
• Sweats (particularly at night)
• Enlarged Glands
• Tiredness and weakness

• One must practice the following steps to avoid
  protracting AIDS as prevention is the only way to
  protect yourself from AIDS
• Must not have unprotected sex.
• Avoid drug use and needle sharing
• Although now advanced medications are available,
  but an unborn child can get HIV from an HIV
  mother
• One should prevent an exposure to contaminated
  blood.
