Teeth
Teeth are designed to be very strong.

The crown is the part of the tooth that appears
above the gum-line.
The root is below the gum-line. It makes up about
2/3 of the tooths total length.
Humans grow two sets of teeth in their life
Milk teeth (about 20 teeth) Permanent teeth
(about 32 teeth)

Humans have three main types of teeth Incisors
are used to bite food Canines are used to tear
food Molars are used to grind food

The Incisors are the teeth in the very front.
They're the sharpest teeth, built to cut food and
shaped to shovel the food inward.

The Canine teeth are in the corners of your
mouth. Because they're meant for grasping and
tearing food, they have very long roots.

The Molars are the last teeth towards the back of
your mouth.
Molars have bigger, flatter chewing surfaces
because their job is to chew and grind the food
into smaller pieces.

Teeth are different in other animals

Bacteria in the mouth use sugar as food and make
acid, causing tooth decay. So eating sugar is bad
for your teeth.

By taking care of teeth we can prevent decay.
Diet (calcium, vitamin C and mineral salts),
fluoride, brushing twice a day, flossing, and
visiting the dentist all help
