In the beginning...
My first experience with swing dance was on a
Valentines date. My (now) husband took me to a
club where they were teaching swing dance.
Sounds romantic!? It was. We were both
terrible, but we took to it, and before long we
were hooked. We started dancing every night,
and before we knew it we were teaching four
nights a week. We now know five types of swing
dance, and (although we dont dance as much as we
used to), truly love it. This is a small
presentation of our own experiences, and a
background on swing itself. Enjoy!

A brief history of swing

• Lindy Hop is the original swing dance
• Developed in the 1920s
• Influenced by the Charleston
• Began in Harlem, New York at the Savoy Ballroom
• All types of swing can incorporate the aerial
  (flip, jumps etc.)
• Swing experienced a resurgence in the early
  1990s when East Coast Swing gained popularity

FACT Kelly and Aaron actually met while working
at the same summer camp.
