1Cocktail and Bar Trends for 2014
- By Zai EstabilloBlogger and Food Enthusiast
2What to drink, what to drink?
- Its more than halfway to 2014 and these bar
trends arent slowing down. - Do yourself a favor, look out and try some of the
hottest bar and cocktail trends this year. - While the classics are still favorites, youll
never know what you may discover.
3Customer Service
- Nathan Merriman of Londons Big Easy says
Bartenders are slowly realizing that the guest
experience is just as important, if not more
important, then the drinks they are serving.
Look for bars that prioritize both the customer
and the quality of cocktails served.
4Cocktail Ice Cubes
- Served frozen, these cocktails burst with flavor
from every melting drop. They may be served
fruity or tart or added on a drink.
5Tequila
- Tequila is often associated with shots, nights
that are better not remembered and hangovers.
Properly aged tequila must be sipped to be
enjoyed. This often overlooked drink will shine
as there are many flavors that have yet to be
discovered.
6Artisanal
- With the rise of craft beer last year, there is a
natural expansion of this trend to other
alcoholic beverages and ingredients. Homemade
rum, vodka and whiskey are some of the examples
of this trend. Some bars are also offering them
bottled and for sale.
7Umami
- The fifth taste takes the spotlight in umami
cocktails. It is mostly used in cooking because
umami creates a satisfying feeling in eating.
Cocktails with umami usually have soy sauce and
ripe tomatoes as ingredients.
8Food Flavored
- Ever heard of bacon bourbon and pizza-flavored
cocktail? The food we love is crossing-over to
cocktails and it may be hit or miss, but is
certainly worth a try.
9Certification
- This one must always be a trend every day, every
month and every year. Bartender certification is
a must for all sellers and servers of alcohol in
order to properly manage intoxicated customers,
spot underage drinkers and determine fake
identification.
