Stipulations
  • May not be used to promote religious beliefs,
    political issues or other organizations
  • May not act on behalf of RI or represent or imply
    that it has authority to act on behalf of RI
  • May not exist or function in any country in
    violation of the laws of such country
  • Financially or operationally independent of RI
    but acting in harmony with RI policy

Facts about Fellowships
  • Started in 1947 structured program of RI from
    January 2002 June 2005.
  • 94 Recreational, Vocational Medical / Health
    fellowships
  • Promoted through Fellowships Month in June
  • An integral part of RI Centennial Convention
  • Parade, Booths and Fellowship Banquet at the
    Centennial Convention in Chicago, June 2005.

Changes from July 1, 2005
  • Global Networking Groups groups of individuals
    organized to focus on shared topics of interest
    on an international basis
  • 1. Recreational Vocational Fellowship groups,
    such as stamp collectors, chess, home exchange,
    etc.
  • 2. Rotarian Action Groups, such as Fighting
    AIDS, Disaster Managers Responders,
    Environment, Eye Care, Hearing Loss, etc.

Basic requirements
  • A governing document (charter, constitution or
    by-laws)
  • At least 3 officers including a Chairman who
    becomes a non-voting member-at-large of the
    Fellowships Committee
  • Membership shall be open to all interested and
    qualified Rotarians and spouses as well as
    Rotaractors
  • Publish a newsletter at least once during the
    Rotary year

Recognition criteria
  • Be a group of Rotarians, spouses, Rotaractors
    representing at least 3 countries (RI Board may
    reduce or waive number of countries represented)
  • Be organised in accordance with RI policy
  • Not duplicate the purposes of an existing
    fellowship (unless approved by the Board)
  • New applications are subject to review by RI
    Fellowships Committee and RI General Secretary
  • Groups denied recognition may not re-apply for a
    period of 3 years from such date

How to Apply
  • Send formal request to RI World Headquarters with

  • completed application form
  • Copy of proposed by-laws
  • List of officers
  • Proposed membership roster
  • Proposed activities, sample newsletter, etc
  • Application will be discussed at next scheduled
    RI Board Meeting
