Greek alphabet
Back to content
  • The Greeks were the first Europeans to learn to
write an alphabet, and from them writing was
brought to the rest of Europe, eventually leading
down to all modern European alphabets. Many words
that we use today come from Ancient Greek words.
They are made from parts of Greek words, called
language roots . Using a dictionary lots of
English words can be found like octo (which means
eight) photo ( which means light) and tele( which
    means far off).
