Origin

• Derived from the double bass
• Invented in 1951 by Leo Fender
• It is still a young and growing instrument

Jazz VS Precision

• P-Bass, or Precision Bass, was the first to be
  created
  
• This Bass uses stacked P-Pickups, that are
  generally used for playing rock, punk, classics.
  Gives you an edge to your sound
  
• J-Bass, or Jazz Bass, came a little later
• Uses to single coil pickups spread a couple
  inches apart
  
• Generally used for playing Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop.
  Gives you a warm round sound
