Steele School 5th graders in C-4 researched the
life of Ludwig van Beethoven in the LC with Mrs.
Miller. In the computer lab they were introduced
to Microsoft PowerPoint, and learned more about
this famous composer as they integrated
technology into their music curriculum.
3Beethovens Time Line
- In 1770, he was baptized in a church on December
17.
- 1778, Beethovens first known public
performance, he was eight.
- 1783, at 13 Beethoven publishes the three piano
sonatas dedicated of Cologne.
- 1787, at 16 his mom died Maria Magdalena. He fell
apart after that.
- 1790, at 20 Beethoven composes the Cantata on
death of Joseph, he also lost his hearing.
- 1796, Beethoven travels with Prince to Prague
where he gives his concert .

Quintet Op. 16
- 1801, falls in love.
- 1804, Beethoven begins to work on an opera.
- 1807, he published his song.
- 1812, he begins his eighth symphony .

- 1822, he is still ill, several months with.
- In 1824, he played his ninth symphony.

sse to the Nevgassa. The family moved back to Rh

When he was 4, he was forced to practice through
long hours. When he was 8, he played in public.
He began composing music when he was 11. When he
was 11, he mastered Bachs 48 preludes and
fugues. When Beethoven was 12 that was in 1782.

Beethoven was born in Bonn Germany. When he was 4
years old, his dad would always wake him up in
the middle of night to practice on the piano.
When he was 11 he published three pianos sonatas.

teacher. Beethoven makes his musical debut in Bo
nn on 26th of March, 1776. He gets a viola and v
iola lessons from Rovantin. Neefe becomes the co

As a teenager Beethoven traveled to Vienna
Austria and got to play for the great Mozart.
Beethoven found a new teacher when he got a
little older.

1120S AND HEARING LOSS
When he was 20, he started losing his hearing.
When he became 50, he was totally deaf. He was
still good at music when he was deaf. In July
1801, he started to admit he was have signs of
being deaf, he had been aware of it for three
years.

12- 1790 when Beethoven turned 20 he started to lose
his hearing. He was aware of this problem for 3
years.
- But do you know what? He was deaf but always
hearing music in his head. He was always avoiding
this problem, he tried every thing, but it seem
not to work. Friends ascribed his reserve to
preoccupation and absentmindedness. He said he
wished that he could hear the morning bells
again.

13BEETHOVENS 20S
When BEETHOVEN was 28, he began a hearing
loss. He was experiencing signs of deafness
. He had been aware of the problem for
3 years. He saw deafness as a challenge to
be fought and overcome. His doctor hoped that
rural peace would help in his hearing.
However when it become obvious that there
was no improvement in his hearing he left the
countryside.

14Beethovens 20s and Hearing Loss
He turned 20 in 1790. He began to lose his
hearing when he was 28. By age 50 he was
completely deaf. He used books called
conversation books to help communicate. He
became suicidal because he was furious about his
deafness, luckily he didnt commit suicide. Some
of his best music was created when he was deaf.
His deafness was likely caused by a lead
intoxication he had gotten when he was younger.
He died a horrific, scary death. He had died
during a thunder storm and he had gotten
extremely scared and died of extreme fright.
