  • It is contagious.
  • It is caused by viruses that infect birds,
    poultry, and sometimes pigs.
  • It can be spread to humans from poultry infected

What is a pandemic?
  • It is a worldwide outbreak of flu.
  • It spreads rapidly to people through sneezing
    and coughing.

How are people infected?
  • People are infected through direct contact
    from contaminated poultry with the Avian Flu
    virus.

  • There are no vaccines that protect against Bird
    Flu.
  • The yearly flu shots have no protection
    against Bird Flu.
