Objectives

• TLW describe the significant laws and resolutions
  that lead to the Declaration of Independence.
• TLW analyze the Declaration of Independence to
  understand its contents.
• TLW hypothesize what would have happened without
  the Declaration of Independence.

Learning Activities

• Students will take part in a classroom discussion
  about the important events that led the colonists
  to write the Declaration of Independence.
• Students will be split into groups and be
  assigned a section of the Declaration of
  Independence to analyze. Each group will be
  responsible for explaining the significance of
  their section to the rest of the class.

• Students will write an essay on their thoughts
  about what would have happened without the
  Declaration of Independence.

• Learner Objective 1 There will be a class
  discussion about laws and resolutions that led
  the colonist to declare their independence and
  the students will take a short answer
  identification quiz.
• Learner Objective 2 Students will lead a
  discussion demonstrating their knowledge of the
  contents of the Declaration of Independence.
• Learner Objective 3 Students will demonstrate
  their knowledge about how important they think
  the Declaration of Independence was through
  writing an essay.
