The CNR
  • The Consortium for Nanoscience Research at the
University of Chicago and Argonne National
Laboratory is a unique opportunity to
  • Advance exciting timely science
  • Build up interdisciplinary, interdivisional
    collaborations across both institutions
  • Facilitate joint recruiting

CNR Mission
Nanoscience is emerging as the new scientific
frontier, and the UC-ANL Consortium for
Nanoscience Research (CNR) sees its mission as
providing a focal point for fundamental,
interdisciplinary research at the intersection of
biology, chemistry, materials science, and
physics. The Consortium focuses on nanoscience
research at the two institutions, fosters
cross-cutting interactions between traditionally
separate disciplines such as the physical and
biological sciences, and acts as incubator for
synergistic, non-traditional approaches to
nanofabrication. Through thematic research
activities and the recruitment of joint staff,
the Consortium uniquely enhances the research
environment at both the University of Chicago and
Argonne National Laboratory, taking on a
leadership role in defining the cutting edge of
nanoscience.
  • Incubator for collaborative nanoscience projects
  • Science-driven
  • Recognized as independent, interdivisional
    research unit at both institutions
