Appearance and Habitat

• 28 inches tall
• Has a black strap under its chin
• Lives on large icebergs in the Antarctic region
• These penguins often have their rookeries far up
  on a mountain
• They live with the Adelie penguins

Chicks and eggs

• Their chicks have gray down feathers
• Like to nest on steep rocky slopes
• They lay two eggs
• They use a handful of pebbles to keep the egg
  from rolling away

Interesting Facts

• Eats mostly krill
• More likely to fight than the other penguins
• Most penguins stay in the nesting area while they
  molt
• They usually mate early or mid of November
• They usually only dive for one minute but they
  can stay under for up to 3 minutes
