- Establish a Leadership Team from all sections of
Hanford.
- Represent all contractors/projects/bargaining
unit personnel on the Leadership Team. Ask for
volunteers first.

Leadership Team.
- Leave egos at the door!
- No hidden agendas.
- Have interchangeable roles on Leadership Team.

- Place one member as the Lead on all teams
(Topics, Communications, Logistics, Special
Events, Legal, Community Outreach and Vehicle
Accident Demonstration. - This person will report to Leadership Team on all
issues.

- Assign some to the administrative details
(minutes, agendas, etc.). This is a critical
position and needs a lot of commitment from the
individual assigned.

- When in doubt, DONT. Always defer to Leadership
Team those decisions that require input for
specialized personnel (Legal, Contracts, etc.).
- Get Legal and Contracts involved on the front end
of planning.

- Ensure all participating personnel have
permission from their immediate management. This
is especially true for bargaining unit personnel.

- Ensure that all employees know when and where
EXPO will be held through work site
communications.

- Seek out all the possible voluntary participants
early. This would include participating Law
Enforcement, Fire Departments, Coroners Office,
Highway/State Patrol, etc. They need to schedule
their time very early as they do their equipment.

- Invite all participating School Districts early
(6 Months) then follow-up with another invitation
one month out. Go out and visit the schools to
personally invite them.

- Invite members of the Senior Community,
retirement homes, nursing homes, etc. EXPO has
something to offer everyone.

- Seek out a Communications person from a
contractor to assist in getting the word out
early and often. These people have the
communications contacts necessary to effect good
public relations.

- Get the sponsoring contractor to assign a strong
Champion to the EXPO. This Champion must
believe in the benefits of EXPO in order to be
able to support it to upper management.

- The vehicle accident demonstration is the
Hallmark of the EXPO so assign the proper
person to lead this team.

- Dont be afraid of new ideas.

- Always conduct a Lessons Learned after each EXPO
and take action on those items.
- Poll the vendors on ways to improve the EXPO and
act on items presented.

- Involve the Convention Center personnel on all
issues related to their facility. Have one
person from EXPO assigned to work with the
Convention Center personnel.

- Take the Convention Center contract through
Contracts Administration for approval and payment.

- Ensure that all literature that is going to be
presented is approved by the Topics Team prior to
the event.
- Controversial issues should be discussed with the
Champion and Legal for resolution. Avoid
political or sensitive issues.

- Get a Community Outreach Team started to focus on
going into the community and inviting other
businesses/industries.
