3ENVISAT Mission Some numbers
- 10 000 orbits celebrated January 28, 2004
- Largest European satellite largest worldwide EO
satellite - unique combination of 10
instruments - 77 different types of data products generated on
a daily basis - 140 Gigabytes of data products generated per day
- ASAR HR instruments operated with an average of
15 min./orbit
4ENVISAT Mission Health status
- All service module elements working nominally
- Solar arrays show excellent performance providing
power levels above expectations and panel
degradations below the specifications - Only 25 of the hydrazine (fuel) has been
consumed, indicating a satellite life expectancy
beyond the nominal 5 years. In the best case,
this could mean operations until 2010-2011. - Excellent performance by the gyroscopes is
ensuring that the satellite pointing well inside
specifications - All instruments (except MIPAS) are working
nominally

17Envisat ASAR 37 High Rate sub-modes
What are the modes and sub-modes requested by
ASAR users ?
Statistics over 9 months (January to September
2003)
BRM Calibration requests excluded
The most requested sub-modes are those used by
the Background Regional Mission (BRM)
but 94 of projects also requested other modes
than ERS-like and WS, VV
18ENVISAT Mission Scientific projects
- 425 current active scientific projects receiving
Envisat data - Results from these projects will be presented at
the forthcoming Envisat symposium in August. - To learn about the results from the projects, go

21Envisat Data Software tools
- The Agency has prepared a number of software
tools available in source code to facilitate the
utilization of Envisat data - - BEST (Basic ERS Envisat SAR Toolbox) Version
4.0 has been delivered to ESA in March 2004 and
is under acceptance testing. Version 4.0 includes
ASAR specific calibration functions and several
additional functions supporting the
interferometric community. - - BEAM (Basic ERS Envisat AATSR and MERIS
toolbox) Version 2.2 is the current version. A
new version is expected in July 2004 with
improved geometric corrections and enhanced
mosaicking tools for Full Resolution data. - - BEAT (Basic ERS Envisat Atmospheric Toolbox)
Version 3, including the visualization interface,
shall be released in April 2004. - These are freeware that ban be downloaded from
the ESA web site
22Envisat Data costs
- Cat 1, Set by ESA
- 25 euro per ASAR and MERIS FR scene (10 euro for
medium resolution images) - 10 euro for the MERIS reduced resolution
- GMM and Wave Mode free from ftp server
- Programming fee for ASAR and MERIS is 80 euro for
the first 60 seconds and then 15 euro for each 15
seconds - Details on http//eopi.esa.int
- Cat 2, prices set by ESA to the Distributing
entities - Reduction of price for archived data
- Increase in programming fee
