Title: Learning Quest Challenge
1Learning Quest Challenge
2Introduction
- The Learning Quest Challenge Course was set up
for students in Year 8 and 9 who need to be
challenged and extended. - Some home group teachers were asked to make a
list of names and hand it to Ms Zocchi and Ms
Green to sort through. 17 students for the
Learning Quest Challenge Course were then chosen
from across Years 8 and 9.
3Introduction (continued)
A Webquest or Learning Quest, is an enquiry-
oriented activity in which most or all of the
information used by the students is on the
Internet. A Webquest consists of 10 basic parts
which include 1. Introduction- An
introduction to the future
task. 2. Task- A outline of the
overall task and the
way they are to present it. 3.
Process(4 Roles)- The individual tasks for
the four different roles.
4. Resources- A list of websites each
student will need to use to do the
task successfully. 5. Evaluation- An
assessment rubric against which the
students are going to be assessed.
6. Conclusion- Summarises what the
students should learnt
whilst doing a Webquest.
4Introduction (continued)
- For the Competition we also had to include.
- 7. Student Development- An outline of the
process which the team undertook to
make the Webquest. -
- 8. Teachers Page- A page for teachers that
gives information and resources for the
teachers. -
- 9. Credits- A list of resources
the team have used to make the Webquest. -
- 10. Extras- Although it isnt compulsory
some students have included educational
games linked to the topic.
5The Competition
- This years competition was a little different
from last years. This year instead of having an
overall winner, and the next best from each
state, they divided it up into five categories - Teacher developed
- School/class developed- made by teachers
students - Student developed- the section we entered.
- Community/ Government Organisation developed-
no prizes are given in this category, just
recognition awards - And the special category this year for the
'International Year of Fresh Water' - People from all around the world are allowed to
enter.
- The Webquests that we made during this course
were made to be entered into a competition which
gives prizes for the best Webquests. - This competition is run by EdNa, the Education
Network Australia, and Myinternet. -
6The Competition (continued)
- The entries were judged on
- The quality of the tasks as a teaching resource
learning model - The thoroughness of research they get students
to do - How easy it is to move around the site
- Whether all the links work and are appropriate
to the topic - Whether the tasks motivate the learners
- And whether it creates teamwork situations.
