- In 1991, my study in the West Midlands showed
that 15.8 of all riding injuries were major
head injuries. My recent survey from Guildford
Hospital shows a drop to 5 from a comparable
sample of 245 total injuries.

related injuries ever recorded by NEISS. During
the last ten years, the biggest increase is to
the head and neck .

- It should be firm but not tight
- The helmet moulds to your head
- Press any pressure points with your fingers
- The helmet should not rotate
- Do the strap under the chin first
- Gaps at the back

- Youve blacked out during a fall
- The helmet becomes loose or tight
- You start a new activity
- You get a new horse
