• Keep your car doors locked and windows up both
  while traveling and when the vehicle is parked.
  Check the inside of your car before getting in
  
• Keep your car in good running condition, purchase
  an auto club membership, consider purchasing a
  cell phone

• Common Sense Things You Can Do
• Keep your office/desk locked whenever youre not
  there
  
• Keep your computer, files, and personal effects
  secure thieves know that most people keep
  wallets and pocket books in unlocked desk
  drawers, under the desk or within easy reach
• Use caution when working in an office alone
• Follow your instincts!!

• Diffuse Report Incidents
• Remain calm and pleasant with irate callers,
  customers or coworkers You stay safer and more
  in control by not going to their level
  
• Try to listen to what the person is saying. Make
  it clear that you can only help if they
  themselves stay calm
  
• Keep aware of tone, body position, and implied or
  actual threats
  
• If its clear that you are not going to be able
  to assist the person, call a supervisor
  
• Call Public Safety x7777 immediately

• Create an atmosphere of communication and

• Consider taking first aid and CPR training
• Be aware of, and follow, college emergency
  procedures

  campus
  
• Report suspicious conditions/incidents whether
  you see or only hear about them
  
• Try to stop the rumor mill
• Refer those with questions about the incident to
  the appropriate resource
  
• Encourage community members to take steps to
  provide for their own safety

• Leave the area and inform others as you do
• Close doors behind you

  caller including time, location and type of
  incident (bomb, biologic threat, etc.)
