    important to follow the basic emergency action
    steps

  • CALL
  • CARE

  • The check step in a delayed help situation may
    need to be more detailed than in a normal first
    aid case
  • Check the Scene
  • Check the Victim
  • Check for Resources

CALL
  • In a delayed help situation, you have four
    options for getting help
  • Stay where you are and call/signal for help
  • Send someone for help
  • Transport the victim to help
  • Care for the victim until they can travel
  • Leave the victim and go for help.

CARE
  • In a delayed help situation, you may need to care
    for the victim for a long time. It is important
    to REMAIN CALM.
  • Check the victims status on a regular basis.
  • Keep a written record of changes in condition.

  • The victim may require various levels of care
    during the delay. Continuously monitor the
    breathing of an unconscious victim. You may need
    to perform rescue breathing or CPR
  • Head, Neck Back Injuries

    environmental conditions
