• With Whom Did We Speak?
• A large number of teachers (and some students
  too) of which 30 filled out our signup sheet.
• 8 High School teachers
• 22 Middle School teachers
• Notably under represented were teachers from the
  Metropolitan Area
• Representatives from OMSI, NASA and suppliers of
  science materials.

• High School Teacher Comments
• The students arent tested for it, so we dont
  teach it.
• It would come at the end of the year in physics
  so it is easily bumped.
• Outreach materials probably wouldnt be useful.

• Middle School Teacher Comments
• Useful, although not as part of the established
  curriculum but could be included.
• Materials should be of the gee whiz type which
  will inspire a students interest.
• Materials must remain in the class room all year
  since they will be used by the students on an
  impromptu basis.

CONCLUSIONS

• Direct our attention at the Middle School level.
• Teachers suggested approximately 6 kits per
  classroom.
• Materials should be of the gee whiz type such
  as offered in the OSAs Optics Discovery kits.
• 1000 would furnish 13 class rooms with 6 of the
  Discovery kits (12.43 ea in quantity).
• Furnishing kits to the 22 Middle School teachers
  who showed interest by signing our sheet would
  cost 1641.
• Are there less expensive, locally produced
  options based on inexpensive materials and
  donations?
• Distribute the kits at next years OSTA meeting?
