ASTEP Program
  • ASTEP is a comprehensive academic program for
    transfer bound students. It is designed for
    African American and other students to increase
    their chances of remaining in college. ASTEP
    offers students an exciting and unique
    opportunity to select courses from an Afrocentric
    curriculum.

Project Success
  • Project Success aids in the successful
    transition of students from high school to El
    Camino College and beyond by the facilitation of
    educational and career goals. Support services
    are provided to ensure that the transition is
    made as smoothly as possible. The support
    services consist of ongoing counseling, tutoring,
    early registration, book vouchers, scholarships,
    fieldtrips, mentoring and learning communities.

IDILE
  • IDILE is a Yorba word that means family. IDILE
    is an academic and community-mentoring program
    that focuses on African American students. IDILE
    is open to all students. IDILE provides services
    and support to help students transfer to a
    four-year school (UC or CSU).

Daraja
  • Daraja is a learning community designed to
    promote transfer and to increase academic and
    personal success. Daraja offers a curriculum
    focused on African-American literature, history,
    student research and information literacy and
    issues facing the African-American community.

  • Ujima is a Swahili word that means
    responsibility or collective work. Ujima is a
    one-year transfer program that focuses on African
    American cultural issues. Ujima helps students
    become learners that understand the importance of
    resilience in personal and academic success.
