Dune Restoration at Bakers Bay
The dunes at Bakers Bay Golf and Ocean Club are
in the process of restoration. As part of one of
the largest Beach Restoration projects in the
Caribbean, the Australian Pines which once
covered this coastline were removed by Bakers
Bay in 2004. Native plants were then planted to
stabilize the shore and other species will
naturally re-colonize and enable this shore to
return to its true, protective, rolling dune
state.

• Why keep off the dunes?
• - Dunes are fragile sand systems created by wind,
  and held in place by plants.
• - They provide food and shelter for many
  creatures, and serve as shorebird nesting
  grounds.
• - Dunes serve as windbreaks, and protect inland
  areas from waves.
• Refraining from walking or driving on dunes
  enables plants to grow and roots to strengthen,
  and _promotes dune
  integrity and build-up.
