Preposition-a word that shows the relationship of
one word in a sentence to another word.

Prepositions tell 4 things

• 1. Where Something Is (location) Ex
  Marks rat is outside its cage.
• 2. Where Something Is Going (direction) Ex
  Marks rat ran to his cage.
• 3. When Something Happens (time) Ex
  During the dance, Nicolle lost her necklace.
• 4. The Relationship between a noun or a pronoun
  and another word in a sentence. Ex Jose went to
  the dance with Maria.

Prepositional Phrases-a group of two or more
words that begins with a preposition and ends
with the first noun or pronoun(object of the
preposition). A prepositional phrase the
preposition, object of the preposition, and all
the words in between.

Examples of Prepositional Phrasesprep.
obj.

• The boy is (behind the tree).
  
• I will wait (until noon), and then Im leaving.

• She lives (across the street) from me.

Helpful Information

• You CAN have MORE THAN 1 prepositional phrase in
  a sentence. Ex (Over the
  river) and (through the woods) ( to Grandmothers
  house) we go.
• Watch out for adjectives!!! Dont confuse them
  with nouns when you are looking for where the
  prepositional phrase ends.
