You are to develop and implement a fully
automatic algorithm to identify and measure (in
pixels, degrees, or other appropriate units) the
physical characteristics of the seam, as noted on
the following slide. Your algorithm should
accept the grayscale image as input and produce
an image with graphics overlaid to illustrate
what it has detected, as well as a textual
listing of its findings.

What to Detect
  • Your algorithm should report
  • Each features position and orientation.
  • Perpendicular distances between like-colored
    lines.
  • The angle of inclination of the red lines with
    respect to the pink (horizontal) line.
  • The center and radius of the circular arc fit to
    the hook interface.
  • The leftmost extent of the hook interface and
    the resulting (minimal) material thickness for
    the outer hook, measured between the left blue
    line and the inner teal arc.
  • Deviation from co-circularity (outer vs. inner
    arcs) and estimated material loss.
