Color Names and Values Colors can be used in a
variety of ways to enhance a page. Below is a
listing of the different ways color can be

six-digit letter/number combination that
represents the red (first two digits), green
(middle two digits), and blue (last two digits)
amounts of a color. There are 216 colors that are
web-safe, meaning they will work on most
monitors. The colors above are 21 of the 216
web-safe colors. Because it can be difficult to
remember the six-digit identifiers, Internet
Explorer and Netscape support named colors. So
instead of typing in a letter/number combination,
you can simply type in the name of a color. A
sampling of standard color names supported by
Internet Explorer and Netscape are aqua gray nav
