Title: Disc 2: Start of disc 2 to orcs coming into the great hall in Moria and surrounding the Fellowship S

1
Disc 2 Start of disc 2 to orcs coming into the
great hall in Moria and surrounding the
Fellowship (Scene 28-35) (First 35 minutes)
Fellowship of the Ring- part 4
The Lord of the Rings
1. What fate is Aragorn portrayed as trying to
run from? Why do you think he is avoiding that?
What does this say about the idea of fate or
destiny? Bible passage Isaiah 531-3 2. How
has the ring affected Bilbo? Is it significant
that it still affects him, even though he has
turned it over to Frodo? Do you expect it to
affect Frodo in the same way? Do you think they
can ever go back to being a normal Hobbit? Why
or why not? What does that say about experiences
that change us? 3. Boromir seems to be tempted
to take the Ring, especially as they try to cross
the Pass of Caradhras. What do these scenes tell
us about temptation? Do you ever face
temptations? What kind? How do you face them?
Boromir does not seem to be aware of his
temptation, at least not yet. Do you think
sometimes you are facing temptation and dont
even realize it? Bible passage Psalms 511-4,
10-11 4. Frodo decides that the Fellowship will
not try to cross over the mountain, but under.
One view could be that they gave up another says
they made a difficult but necessary choice. How
can you tell the difference between giving up
too soon or knowing when to quit?

Fellowship of the Ring- part 4
The Lord of the Rings
5. The various creatures lurking in the shadows
-- Sarumans crows, the Watcher in the murky
pool, Gollum in the caves of Moria -- all give a
sense of foreboding. Do you ever get the sense
that evil is lurking? Do you think such fears
are generally founded or unfounded? What can you
do when you feel that way? 6. Gandalf says to
Frodo Do not be too eager to deal out death and
judgment. Are you ever eager to deal out
judgment (and maybe even hate, if not death)?
Frodos response seems very human. What does
that say about human nature? 7. Frodo says to
Gandalf that he wishes the Ring had never come to
him. Do you ever find yourself in a situation
out of your control that you wish had never
happened? How do you face such a situation? Do
we as Christians have any extra tools at our
disposal for such situations? Bible passage 2
Chronicles 327-8
