RCAC - Emergency Assistance
  • A residential care apartment complex shall ensure
    that tenant health and safety are protected in
    the event of an emergency and shall have the
    capacity to provide emergency assistance 24 hours
    a day. A residential care apartment complex shall
    have a written emergency plan which describes
    staff responsibilities and procedures to be
    followed in the event of fire, sudden serious
    illness, accident, severe weather or other
    emergency and is developed in cooperation with
    local fire and emergency services

AFH - Fire safety evacuation plan
  • The licensee shall have a written plan for the
    immediate and safe evacuation of all occupants of
    the home in the event of a fire. The plan shall
    identify an external meeting place.

    because of a fire

Nursing Home
  • Nursing home means a place where 5 or more
    persons who are not related to the operator or
    administrator reside, receive care or treatment
    and, because of their mental or physical
    condition, require access to 24-hour nursing
    services, including limited nursing care,
    intermediate level nursing care and skilled
    nursing services.

  • (3) RESIDENT SAFETY AND DISASTER PLAN.
  • (a) Disaster plan. 1. Each facility shall have a
    written procedure which shall be followed in case
    of fire or other disasters, and which shall
    specify persons to be notified, locations of
    alarm signals and fire extinguishers, evacuation
    routes, procedures for evacuating helpless
    residents, frequency of fire drills, and
    assignment of specific tasks and responsibilities
    to the personnel of each shift and each
    discipline.

  • 2. The plan shall be developed with the
    assistance of qualified fire and safety experts,
    including the local fire authority.
  • 3. All employees shall be oriented to this plan
    and trained to perform assigned tasks.
  • 4. The plan shall be available at each nursing
    station.
  • 5. The plan shall include a diagram of the
    immediate floor area showing the exits, fire
    alarm stations, evacuation routes, and locations
    of fire extinguishers. The diagram shall be
    posted in conspicuous locations in the corridor
    throughout the facility.

  • 1. The facility must have detailed written plans
    and procedures to meet all potential emergencies
    and disasters, such as fire, severe weather, and
    missing residents. F517
  • 2. The facility must train all employees in
    emergency procedures when they begin to work in
    the facility, periodically review the procedures
    with existing staff, and carry out unannounced
    staff drills using those procedures. F518
