Busting Some Used Car Buying Myths

Used Car Myths
  • Not everyone is privileged enough to buy a new
car. Sometimes we, especially those of us who
dont have many financial options, have to face
the reality and go for old used cars. There are a
lot of myths that surround used cars which
    require breaking down.

If My Name Is In The Logbook, Im The Rightful
Owner
  • The person who has their name in the registered
owner logbook, isnt necessarily the legal owner
of the car. If a car is still in finance, its
former owner can still claim it as his own.

A New Car Costs 20,000, But Its Advertised As
Only 10,000 Used. Must Be A Good Bargain
  • Just because youre getting an apparently good
bargain while buying a used car, it doesnt mean
the bargain is really that good. Theres always a
catch, but fortunately, there is always a way to
    figure out those catches.

5
All Used Cars Are The Same, Arent They?
  • Not all used cars are the same. A used Mazda is
more likely to last longer than a used Audi.
Visit a good website which ranks cars according
    to their longevity.

6
I Got A Good Deal From A Dealer Who Promised To
Meet Me In A Motel. Maybe I Should Take It
  • Never take anything at a face value, especially
when it comes to buying used cars. Do your
research about the car you want to buy, then
learn more about your local dealers. Here in the
US, theres a used car dealer in almost every
    corner.

Receipts Dont Really Matter, As Long As The Car
Is Serviced
  • A rule of the thumb, while buying used cars, is,
if something cant be proved, its not true. You
can check the car for the new paint and fixed
stereo, but if you dont know about oil filters
and fuel injections, you might be dooming
    yourself in the long run.
