    currently accredits over 240 college programs for
    technicians and technologists in Canada, and work
    in Canada and Abroad to ensure that these
    programs and their graduates are recognized and
    can move freely within our borders and in the

What is a technician or technologist?
  • In the world of technology, those who help to
    design devices and equipment, who decide exactly
    what equipment to use on a particular project,
    who figure out how to use it and who supervise
    its installation and use are generally known as
    technologists.
  • The people who actually install, test, use and
    fix equipment and who become the hands-on experts
    with a specific piece of technology are known as
    technicians.

  • Technician (C.Tech)
  • Education Specialists with an education suited
    to jobs that require expert knowledge in
    particular tasks. Their institute or college
    training programs are generally between one and
    two years in length and stress practical skills.
  • Technologist (CET/AScT)
  • Education Study more advanced courses in math,
    engineering theory and scientific principles,
    usually in a two- or three-year college program.

  • 2. Two years relevant work experience

  • Submit Application form Be sure to include the
    60 application fee, transcripts, job
    description, and two professional references. We
    will send a questionnaire for your references to
    complete.
  • Applications Reviewed by Certification Board
    This panel of senior technology professionals
    meet once a month (except July August) to
    evaluate applications for certification on a
    case-by-case basis
  • Complete the Ethics Exam

Purpose of Act 2 (1) The purpose of this Act is
to regulate and govern the use by a person of the
designations "Certified Engineering Technician",
"Certified Engineering Technologist", "Certified
Applied Science Technician" and "Certified
Applied Science Technologist" and the initials
"CET"AScT", , "CTech" or any like words,
initials or expressions used alone or in
combination with other words or expressions, as a
professional designation.
