Title: TRIMEweb: The Future for TRI Reporting

1
TRI-MEweb The Future for TRI Reporting
  • Cory Wagner

2
What is TRI-MEweb?
  • EPAs on-line TRI electronic reporting system
  • No more software to download
  • Can be accessed anywhere there is an internet
    connection
  • Enhanced Security
  • File format is extensible mark-up language (XML)
    instead of flat file

3
Why TRI-MEweb?
  • Will promote internet reporting
  • No need to email CDs
  • No need to test operating system/software
    compatibility
  • Application changes can be made instantly
  • Will lead to earlier data releases due to
    increases in internet reporting

4
RY 2006 TRI-MEweb Limited Release
  • Approximately 700 facilities located in 14
states used the TRI-MEweb application to submit
2,925 chemical forms for RY 2006.
  • We experienced minimal technical issues
  • The application generated a lot of feedback, much
    of it positive

5
The Good
  • TRI-MEweb is fantastic. It saves hours of time
preparing the TRI reports for our facility. Great
    job!
  • This submission format is great. Easy to use
and understand. I hope it is available next year
  • This online version is fabulous...thank
    you...great job!!!!

6
The Bad (or the constructive)
  • working the new program was wonderful! I had
no issues, easy to use and user friendly. Now in
    regards to the certifying official
    process...........this process needs a major
improvement so that it becomes a simple and quick
process.........plant managers do not have the
luxury to spend time loading passwords and
    waiting on responses....etc....

7
EPA is listening to your comments
  • My comment is I would like to print out forms
to fill out as a draft so to review with the CEO
or Facility Manager prior to submission.
  • Notice Available in TRI-MEweb RY2007.
Facilities can print off draft forms prior to
    submitting to CDX
  • Please keep them coming to help us refine our
    product!

8
Enhancing the Security of Electronic Submissions
  • Government-wide initiative to enhance security of
    electronic submissions
  • EPA promulgated the Cross-Media Electronic
    Reporting Rule
  • Ensures that EPA and electronic reporters had a
    trusted relationship to prevent
    submittal/revision of data from unauthorized
    sources
  • New EPA systems required to conform with CROMERR
  • TRI-MEweb

9
How Are We Compliant?
  • TRI-MEweb will require all Certifying Officials
(CO) to obtain a Central Data Exchange (CDX)
username and password and provide a signed
Electronic Signature Agreement (ESA) prior to
    electronically signing the submission.
  • Facilities need to plan ahead as the process is
estimated to take a minimum of 5 business days to
    become active to certify forms.
  • Each CO will be linked to their facility and
will only be authorized to e-sign for that
    facility
  • COs only need to provide the ESA one time.
However, if CO changes, they must register with
CDX and provide an ESA prior to electronically
    signing the submission.
  • TRI-MEweb will notify the user if a CO has not
    been designated
