Located at Fu Shin Street, the Man Mo Temple. The
Temple was built by the Tsat Yeuk Villagers in
the late 19th century and was once used as the
office of the Tsat Yeuk Rural Committee. Careful
restoration work has given the Temple an
authentic look. There are many rooms inside the
temple and inside the rooms there are a lot of
god statues for people to worship, those statues
were just made of wood.
But after the restoration work people just put
the statues out in the middle of the temple for
people to worship. Now a day, Man Mo Temple
already listed as a monument? The open time of Man
Mo Temple is from 600 a.m. to 600 p.m..

They are the gods of the door. They help us to
frighten away the ghosts. They are the General
Qin and General Wu. At night, they stood outside
the Tong Tai Chungs room so that Tong Tai Chung
could sleep and handle the affairs in day time.
But they couldnt stand outside every night. So
Tong Tai Chung made the painter to draw their
pictures and stick on the door. Then they became
the gods of the door. We need to respect them.

Why is there an orange link with the wish paper?
I see. It is very interesting. But why are there
so many people coming here and just make a wish??
Good question! Its related to legends There are
two of them. Let me tell you both of them!
13
Once upon a time, there was a woman. Her son was
weak in studying. So she went to the Wishing Tree
with her son, prayed to the tree earnestly. After
that, her son became clever and good at studying.
Then many people thought that there was a god in
the tree. They prayed to the god and made wishes
to the tree.
The following is another version. One day, there
was a fire burning all the trees. Before the
trees died, two Chinese redbuds grew in front of
the tree. And the two redbuds grew bigger and
bigger. So all the residents thought that it was a
very powerful tree! Then the powerful tree
developed into nowadays wishing tree.

For lunch, we will go to this restaurant for Yum
Cha. This restaurant is located in the Tai Po

Currently the largest park in Tai Po District is
the Tai Po Waterfront Park, completed in June
1997. It is located to the south of Tai Po
Industrial Estate facing the Tolo Harbour.
  •   The Lookout Tower in the Park is 32.4 meters
-high with the upper levels open to public daily
from 900 a.m. to 600 p.m. Visitors can climb up
the Tower and take a bird's eye view of the whole
    Park.

18
Its because some of the people in the New
Territories died when protecting their homeland,
so people there started to participate more in
activities concerning developments there and
this made Hong Kong in ones days of prosperity.
  • Besides, it was also because of when England
take over the New Territories, the starting point
was the Lookout Tower in Tai Po now, so this
tower was built there for commemoration.

19
Hong Kong Railway Museum
Do you know why it was located in Tai Po market
but not other places? Let me tell you.
  • It is located in the town center of Tai Po
Market. Inside is the Railway Station building
which is erected in 1913. It has a  pitched roof
of the traditional Chinese building and it was
declared a monument in 1984. One year later,
after the restoration and refurbishment, the
building was opened as a museum. It have received
an Annual Awards in December 1986 from the
    Architectural Services Department.

20
  • Tai Po naturally developed into a center of
administration and trade. The location of the
Old Tai Po Market Station on the south bank of
the Lam Tsuen River brought prosperity to Tai Wo
Market and as more and more people came here to
trade, the market gradually became a focus of Tai
    Pos flourishing economy.

21
  • For dinner, we will go to this restaurant.
  • Why do we have to go here?
  • This is a very popular restaurant in Hong
Kong. It has a very long history, it was
    established in 1986.
  • How much will this meal cost?
  • It costs about 400. The quality of food is
    quite good.
