10Using a ratio of percentages
If female PhD students are as likely as male
students to progress to an academic post, the
percentage of female academics will be the same
as the percentage of PhD students. For example,
if 25 of PhD students are female and 25 of
academics are female, the progression is
equitable.
11Using a ratio of percentages
Female PhD students 25 Female Academics 25

12Using a ratio of percentages
But if 25 of PhD students are female and only
12 of academics are female, the progression is
inequitable.
