Preparing Our Children
Babies can be so cute.
But the scriptures say that their hearts are
evil.

• What does it mean for our child to be a straight
  and sharp arrow?
• How does a parent ready their child for Gods use?

• Never thought about it
• Care for outward needs

Well fed Entertained Kept safe Ushered
into adult world

Fix it!

• Keep him out of trouble and he will be okay.
• Dont do that!
• Stop that!

Parenting concerns focus on finding help for
different problems.

Negative Parenting

• Future path not clear
• (not able to look ahead)
• Focus on childs misbehavior
• Parent is frustrated and angry
• Child feels rejected

Fortunately, God has a better way!

The parent also shapes the heart of the children.

How does a parent ready their child for Gods use?
The Problem Today

• I sent my child to the best schools.
• I sent my child to a good church.
• I taught him what he is suppose to do.

So why is he so bad?!

• Disgruntled children
• Hear and see
• Analyze

• Do what they see
• Even young children
• If not the same, they reject when older

What do they see?
Mom pamper child? Father respond to stubborn
fit? How does Mom respond when exasperated?
Father joyfully obeys God? Wife politely
talks to husband?
Treated rudely? Reacts to hard situations?
Daddy content? Mommy fears people?
The cultivation of morals

The parent has tremendous shaping power over
their children
For their good to protect them even in a
wicked society For their harm if they do not
repent from their sins

The child will more than likely adopt some aspect
of the parents attitudes.
