First response

• I am thoroughly enjoying the course so far. It
  is a good selection of material to commence
  studies with and easy to use
• I have already visited the course site, it looks
  great and easy to read.

Pathways concept

• On the study side, I believe I have enough info
  to get started and work my way through, part of
  the fun is discovering your own material!
• I am at the stage of putting this together and I
  felt that the printed notes were a great source
  of direction in the structured path.
• Because I think this part is familiar to me, I
  will use the Web Search Pathway to complete this
  assignment, but for the rest I am going to use
  the Structured Pathway.

Flexibility

• I was wondering if I could change my PowerPoint
  presentation from utilising the script "Don't
  come Monday" to utilising a report about the HIC
  2002 conference which would be more relevant to
  my workplace.
• I was going to do the structured pathway but the
  activities path is beginning to look more
  interesting. I do tend to go back and forth a bit
  though before I finally send something in.

Application of learning

• I have started creating a database for the
  Health Information Requests that I process. It is
  a manual system and the department and the Area
  Health Service would benefit from information
  being better managed.
• Wrote a simple database for our AE dept over
  the break. Nothing fancy but they wanted a method
  of recording patient info, triage category,
  ambulance in or out, length of time in AE,
  helicopter medivac etc. They plan to use this to
  produce reports justifying their case for
  additional AE staffing. Surprise, surprise it
  works well and someone now knows a little about
  the use of a health informatics officer in the
  joint!!!!

Last word

• Thanks for the grade and the feedback. I seem to
  be doing fairly well with this course and I am
  sure a lot of the reason is that I am enjoying
  it. (The odd computer glitch aside).
• You and your fellows should accept some well
  deserved kudos for the design and structure of
  the course.
