Most people like to dress up now and again with
ladies in evening dress and men in black tie. It
sometimes seems a bit of an effort but when its
done it usually seems worth doing. The strange
thing about formal evening dress is that for both
men and women it has changed little over the past
hundred years. When you look at evening dress in
the nineteen twenties and thirties its changed
very little. In fact there are a number of
companies selling replicas of dresses from that

Throughout those hundred years the dress is
predominately floor length and frequently low cut
at the back. There is no limit to the number of
colours and material. But for men it has changed
even less as they still mostly wear a black suit
with white starched collar and black bow
tie. Its almost a shame we dont do it more
often although there are some sections of society
that do make the effort for every evening. If you
travel first class on a cruise liner youll still
find it happens. Its also a fact that when
people make the effort at big weddings it is
almost the same for many as putting on fancy
dress and a face mask. Beneath this guise it
often happens that we lose inhibitions.
Particularly after a drink or two of good
champagne the atmosphere can be well worth the
effort.

There is no difficulty finding evening dresses
online just like anything else in these times.
And as with everything you can spend as little or
as much as you can afford. Brand new designer
dresses can run to thousands of pounds. But there
are so many far less expensive ones that can look
just as good. If you are someone that must have
a certain famous label then youre going to have
to pay for it. But there are many examples where
only an eagle-eyed expert in fashion would spot
the difference.

Women have far greater choices when it comes to
evening wear as they can just choose the colour
and design that suits them best. If a man wears
anything other than black jacket or just possibly
white, then hell look out of place at a formal
evening dinner or cocktail party. Although most
women prefer to wear a floor length or at least
mid-calf dress, there are other attractive
outfits that are considered acceptable at formal
occasions. The only difficulty with buying
online is that women are spoilt for choice. But
the advantages should outweigh that happy
problem.

want in a fraction of the time it does to wander
from one high street clothing store to
