Market Need

• Cytotoxic drugs are amongst the worlds most
  successful cancer drugs but they have unwanted
  side effects which impact on patient quality of
  life.
• New therapies have tried to target the treatment
  to cell surface markers elevated in cancer cells
• Drugs that are as efficacious as cytotoxics but
  have reduced side effects are needed

Our Solution

• We have identified novel platinum prodrugs that
  can be activated by light to form cytotoxic
  species
• Prodrugs show no significant toxicity in the dark
• Potential to significantly reduce platinum
  associated side effects in vivo
• Novel chemistry and mechanism of action
• Cytotoxic in cisplatin resistant cell lines

• Estimated market potential of efficacious
  oncology treatment is 500 million to 1 billion
• Effective in immortalized human keratinocytes,
  human ovarian and bladder cancer cell lines

• Investment is needed to identify the initial
  cancer target and to initiate the in vivo
  pre-clinical program
• Professor Peter Sadler (now at the University of
  Warwick) and Dr Julie Woods (Photobiology Unit,
  Dundee) have the expertise and access to
  photobiology clinics.
