Title: How to Perform CPR
1How to Perform CPR
2Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a series
of mouth-to-mouth respiration and chest
compressions. CPR is used to allow oxygenated
blood to circulate to vital organs such as the
brain and heart. CPR can help keep a person
alive until help arrives. If performed CPR can
double the likelihood of survival for victims.
3CPR Can Be Performed On
- Adults
- Children
- Infants
- Even Cats Dogs
4CALL
- Check the person for unresponsiveness.
- If there is no response, Call 911.
- Tilt head back, listen and look for signs of
- breathing. If not breathing regular, pinch the
nose and
- give two breaths. Each Breath should last for 2
seconds
- and make the chest rise.
BLOW
- Check for a pulse. If there is no pulse, press
down
- of the chest 2 inches,15 times with your hands on
top
- of the other and fingers intertwined. Pump at a
rate of
- 100/per minute.
PUMP
Continue 2 breaths and 15 pumps until help
arrives or until
the person is revived.
5CPR for Children is like CPR for adults but there
are 4 differences
1.) If you are alone with the child you should
give 1 minute of CPR before calling 911.
2.) Use the heel of only one hand for chest com
pressions 3.) Press down on the sternum 1 to 1
.5 inches instead of 2. 4.) Give 1 full breath
continued by 5 chest compressions.
6Shout and Tap
Shout and gently tap the child on the shoulder.
If there is no response, position the infant on
his or her back
Open The Airway
Open the airway by tilting the head lifting of
chin. Do not tilt the head
too far back.
Give 2 Gentle Breaths
If the baby is NOT breathing give 2 small gentle
breaths. Cover the baby's mouth and nose with you
r mouth. Each breath should be 1.5 to 2 seconds
long.
Give 5 Compressions
Give five gentle chest compressions at the rate
of 100 per minute. Position your 3rd and 4th fin
gers in the center of the chest
Repeat

8- First open the mouth and make sure the air
passage is clear. Remove any
- obstruction.
2. Next extend the head and give several
artificial respirations.
3. Next perform chest compression.
4. Remember to alternate breaths with
compressions The ratio of compressions to
breaths should be approximately the same as for
humans 152. Continue doing this until
the animal responds or begins to breathe on its
own.
