  • ONE OIL FILTER, MASERATI PART 188814.
  • ONE 22mm COPPER SEALING WASHER.
  • ONE 18mm COPPER SEALING WASHER.
  • 1 AEROSOL CAN OF PARTS CLEANER.
  • 9 LITERS OF AGIP SYNTHETIC 5W-40 OIL.
  • MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC 5W-40 IS ALSO VIABLE.

TOOLS NEEDED
  • OIL FILTER PLIERS OR SOCKET WRENCH ATTACHMENT.
  • 3/8 DRIVE RATCHET W/ 12mm ALLEN SOCKET AND 8
    INCH EXTENSION.
  • 1/2 DRIVE RATCHET W/ 22mm SOCKET.
  • OIL DRAINS, ONE STAND UP AND
  • TWO DRIP PANS OR BUCKETS.
  • ONE FUNNEL.
  • RAGS FOR CLEANUP.

PREPERATION
  • OPEN HOOD.
  • REMOVE PASSENGER SIDE COVER.
  • REMOVE OIL TANK CAP
  • MARKED MASERATI.

LIFTING OF VEHICLE
  • LOCATE FRONT JACKING PAD
  • LOCATE REAR JACKING PAD

LIFT ARM POSITION
  • FRONT ARM
  • REAR ARM

DRAINING OF ENGINE
  • LOCATE ENGINE SUMP DRAIN IN MIDDLE FRONT EDGE OF
    ENGINE. USE RAGS ON HEAT SHEILD TO COLLECT OIL
    SPILLAGE OR REMOVE HEAT SHIELD ALL TOGETHER.
  • USE THE 3/8 DRIVE RATCHET, EXTENSION
    AND 12 mm ALLEN SOCKET TO REMOVE OIL DRAIN
    PLUG. BE CAREFULL NOT TO SPILL OIL.

DRAINING OF OIL TANK
  • USE ½ DRIVE RATCHET AND 22mm SOCKET TO REMOVE OIL
    DRAIN PLUG.
  • REMOVE RUBBER COVER ON RH (PASSENGER) SIDE OF
    BELLYPAN.

REPLACING OIL FILTER
  • USING THE TOOL REMOVE FILTER AND CHECK THAT
    RUBBER O-RING IS WITH FILTER, NOT ON THE PUMP.
  • LET OIL DRAIN FROM SUMP, TANK AND FILTER.
  • LOCATE OIL FILTER ON RH SIDE OF ENGINE BELOW
    HEADER.
  • ALL THREE DRAIN POINTS SHOULD BE OPEN AT THE SAME
    TIME.

REPLACING OIL FILTER
  • USE OIL AND LUBRICATE RUBBER O-RING ON FILTER.
  • INSTALL FILTER TIGHTLY BUT NOT OVERTIGHT.
  • CHECK PART OF FILTER FOR CORRECTNESS. PN
    188814.

DRAIN PLUG WASHERS
  • CLEAN DRAIN PLUGS.
  • REPLACE COPPER SEALING WASHERS WITH NEW.
  • FIT WASHERS ON DRAIN PLUGS.

INSTALL DRAIN PLUGS
  • INSTALL DRAIN PLUG AND TIGHTEN.
  • CLEAN RESIDUAL OIL FROM SUMP AND FILTER AREAS.
  • INSTALL DRAIN PLUG AND TIGHTEN.
  • CLEAN RESIDUAL OIL AND INSTALL RUBBER PLUG ON
    BELLYPAN.

CHECKING OF FLUIDS
  • CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, MASTER CYLINDER IS
    LOCATED IN LH REAR CORNER OF ENGINE BAY.
  • FLUID SHOULD BE BETWEEN MIN. AND MAX. FILL W/
    SHELL DONAX UB BRAKE FLUID (IT EXCEEDS DOT 5.1).
  • CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID, RESEVOIR IS LOCATED
    UNDER THE LH (PILOT) SIDE ENGINE BAY COVER.
  • CHECK DIPSTICK LEVEL AND FILL AS NEEDED W/ SHELL
    DONAX TA OR MERCON III AUTO TRANS FLUID.

CHECKING OF FLUIDS
  • CHECK THE COOLANT RESEVOIR.
  • LEVEL SHOULD BE BETWEEN MIN. AND MAX. WHICH IS
    ROUGHLY THE SEAM OF THE TANK.
  • DO NOT TOP OFF WHEN ENGINE IS HOT !!!
  • CHECK WINDSHIELD WASHING FLUID.
  • LOCATED JUST AFT OF COOLANT RESEVOIR IN FAR RH
    REAR CORNER OF ENGINE BAY.
  • OPEN BLUE COVER AND USING A FUNNEL , SLOWLY FILL
    UNTIL FULL.
  • USE A WASH SOLUTION THAT WILL NOT FREEZE.
  • IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURES ARE
    BROUGHT UP TO SPEC AS WELL AT THIS TIME.
    (I CHECK/FILL TIRES WHILE WAITING FOR THE
    ENGINE TO WARM UP AFTER FILLING WITH OIL).
  • REFER TO THE LABEL ON THE LH DOOR JAMB FOR
    PRESSURE SPEC.

FILLING OF OIL
  • USING A FUNNEL FILL OIL TANK WITH 7 ½ LITERS OF
    OIL.
  • RUN ENGINE UNTIL COOLING FANS COME ON (OPERATING
    TEMP).
  • THE DASH TEMPERATURE GAUGE WILL BE CLOSE TO THE
    MIDDLE READING.
  • WITH ENGINE WARM AND IDLING , CHECK DIPSTICK
    (LOCATED NEXT TO TANK) OIL LEVEL.
  • ADD ½ LITER AT A TIME UNTIL OIL IS IN BETWEEN
    MIN. AND MAX.
  • THERE IS 1 LITER CAPACITY BETWEEN MIN. AND MAX.
    DO NOT OVERFILL !!!
  • MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL TAKE 8-8 1/4 LITERS.

REMOVAL OF WASTE OIL
  • DRAIN OIL FILTER COMPLETELY AND RECYCLE.
  • PUT WASTE OIL IN A SEALED CONTAINER(S)
  • AND BRING TO YOUR LOCAL SERVICE CENTER.
  • BY LAW THEY HAVE TO ACCEPT WASTE OIL
  • FOR RECYCLING. (AS WELL AS USED BATTERIES)
  • GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK (WITH
  • CLEAN HANDS), JOB WELL DONE.
