2WHAT IS STATIC WEBSITE DESIGNING
- A static website contains Web pages with fixed
content. Each page is coded in HTML and displays
the same information to every visitor. Static site
s are the most basic type of website and are the
easiest to create. Unlike dynamic websites, they
do not require any Web programming or database
design. Since static Web pages contain fixed
code, the content of each page does not change
unless it is manually updated by the webmaster.
This works well for small websites, but it can
make large sites with hundreds or thousands of
pages difficult to maintain.
3ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
- Advantages of static website design
- Static websites are easier to create.
- Static websites are much cost effective compared
to dynamic websites. - Static websites are easily crawled upon by the
search engine spiders and hence they attract more
visitors - Ideal for small scale businesses
- Disadvantages of static website design
- It becomes very expensive if one decides to
upgrade his static website. - Static websites are less attractive and less
interactive. - One cannot update any content unless he has some
knowledge about HTML and CSS.
4RESPONSIVENESS
- Since the earliest days of the Internet, web
designers have focused on creating sites that
function within the contexts of the screens or
devices on which they would appear. These
contexts have been rather uniform and basic.
However, demands have heightened in conjunction
with technological advancements. From massive
desktop screens and laptops to tablets and
smartphones, designers are required to think
beyond limited contexts. - Responsive design is the answer to viewing
websites from cell phones. Websites that are
responsive are built with percentages instead of
exact measurements. This means that when a user
is viewing the website from a smart phone or
tablet, the website can accommodate the changes
in sizes.
5HOW TO MAKE RESPONSIVE SITE
- When building a responsive website, or making
responsive an existing site, the first element to
look at is the layout. When I build responsive
websites, I always start by creating a
non-responsive layout, fixed at the default size.
For example, CatsWhoCode.com default width is
1100px. When Im pleased with the non-responsive
version, I add media queries and slight changes
to my code to make the code responsive. Its way
easier to focus on one task at a time. - When youre done with your non-responsive
website, the first thing to do is to paste the
following lines within the headgt and lt/head tags
on your html page. This will set the view on all
screens at a 11 aspect ratio and remove the
default functionality from iPhones and other
smartphone browsers which render websites at
full-view and allow users to zoom into the layout
by pinching.
